VINTAGE JOY by Joy Fan

Joy Fan reshapes San Francisco fashion with her unique take on iconic studio era silhouettes. Details like lace, embroidery and beads speak for these silhouettes and insinuate feminine sensuality that redelivers mystery and eloquence to the art of flirting. The attention to these details while permitting each piece to tell a story is signature Vintage Joy.

Having worked alongside of former New York Gucci Designer: Junichi Hakamaki; Joy bridges fantasy with technique in her collections. Her experience in New York, from designing at Anna Sui, Juicy Couture and Saks Fifth Private Label; has allowed her to unfold a foundation of street style while refining it with her taste for glamour. Her education stems from a cumulative Environmental Fashion Design study at the University of California, Davis; which gained her a Bachelor of Science. Thus, mindful of revolutionizing the consciousness of the environment through glamour, Joy always knew that “vintage” would play a dominant role in her work. To this day she enjoys treasured finds to create one-of-a-kind pieces that have a memory of the past but continues to tell a story through the individual who personifies her designs.

Fueled by a need to bring fashion back to a time when clothes were specifically tailored to the individual, Joy uses quality fabrics with a strict attention to what accentuates the female form. Each seam and dart is carefully considered for each client allowing Joy’s personal handiwork to stand out amongst the machine duplicated clothing. The high level of workmanship is a nod to a time when clothing was more than an extension of a woman’s look.

What generally defines “vintage” is a design originally born with high quality workmanship and a classic silhouette able to withstand the passing of time. The Vintage Joy philosophy is to adhere to the “vintage standard” in the present.

Now residing in her hometown: San Francisco, Joy has done several Fashion Shows that have showcased her love for the creative industry; ranging from MultiMedia Art Productions to Band Showcases. A few venues include: the Red Devil Lounge (as part of the Ant Show Production), DNA Lounge, Fat City, Etiquette Lounge, Slims, Roe, Club Six and many more locations in the bay area.

Joy’s fashion can be found through consignment boutiques or upon inquiry of her custom designs. You may contact Joy at joy@vintagejoy.com.
